Learning is better together

The Grove Learning Pod

Learning together is Better

The Grove Learning Pod is a co-learning space for teens who are studying an online curriculum. The Grove is here to support teens in their online environment, with creating visual goals and objectives weekly, and align actions to achieve those goals, mentor teens in their high school journey, focussing on study skills, growth mindset figuring out autonomy and discipline, self-directed learning, social interaction and shared progress learning together.

We combine the flexibility of online schooling with the structure and warmth of a shared learning environment. Through this collaboration, online brings the education, we bring the life skills and values for teens to thrive in an ever changing world.

We build life skills here

Education for the whole child. The Grove Keeper helps support social education, discipline as a tool for freedom, coaching through difficulty when the learning curve is steep, mindset matters and learning and growing through despondency, boredom or feeling like there is too much ahead. The Grove Learning Pod is an environment that nurtures creativity and resilience.

We offer Grove Sessions which are monthly Friday sessions where external service providers are invited in to the Grove to share their passion for self-knowledge, art and creativity among other life skills that can’t be taught in the formal curriculum. Here is an outlet for teens to explore themselves in a different context and give some joy and breathing space from the curriculum.

When there is play or delight in learning, the learning process is 400 times more effective.

Meaningful connections and belonging

Ecosystem of livelihood – We offer nature and outdoor time as part of the balanced learning process. The co-learning space opens up to a garden and the kitchen/patio with large communal farm table is also open to the garden, giving teenagers a real infusion of nature and grounding. The garden space has nooks and areas for teens to hang out, compare notes, collaborate or sit quietly to grab a peaceful moment, to read, learn or reset their nervous systems. 10 minutes barefoot on the ground undoes an entire day of screen toxicity.

Our resident dogs are teenager friendly and will help anxious learners settle in. Anyone who doesn’t like dogs can learn tolerance and with time, the dogs will give them space.

The Grove is a home away from home.

Our Philosophy and Values

Physical Movement moves the mind and creates peace of mind. We aim to offer movement breaks during the day to gently teach teens how to keep a balanced schedule supporting their minds, body, emotions and overall wellbeing. Movement will range from play-inspired, to team-building exercises to moving meditation.

Unique, self directed learning experience for teenagers / high school. Here learning is empowering, joyful and productive through choice.

Learning happens within community – parents, student, us and others like us, and your teen.

Self – directed learning : students set their pace and goals and we support them in that, holding accountability, navigating failures to meet goals and inspiring belief in achieving their goals.

We are committed to cultivating an environment where students can invest in themselves,  and develop leadership skills through self-directed learning, curiosity and personal development. Through our grove sessions curated by student interest and community skillset, we aim to make exciting new opportunities available for your teen, bridging the gap between intellectual learning and learning through play.

Our values – 3 pillars – We grow | we learn | we succeed

Our guidelines –

  • We belong – everyone is welcome here
  • We listen – we hear each other with respect and curiosity
  • We grow – mistakes help us learn
  • We support – we help eachother rise
  • We trust – ourselves and offer respect for others
  • We show up – for ourselves and eachother
  • We bloom – celebrate every growth moment
